Professional Independent Football League (PIFL)

Founded in 2025, the Professional Independent Football League (PIFL) was created with a clear mission: to provide overlooked, underexposed, and highly motivated athletes with a second chance to continue their professional football careers. With thousands of talented players leaving college each year and limited roster spots available in the NFL, CFL, and UFL, many athletes find themselves without a platform to showcase their abilities. The PIFL bridges that gap by offering a competitive, structured environment where players can gain high-quality film, sharpen their skills, and attract attention from major professional organizations.

At the PIFL, we believe that opportunity can change everything. Our league is built to develop athletes physically, mentally, and professionally—ensuring they have the tools, visibility, and support needed to elevate to the next level.

Our Season Structure

The PIFL operates on a streamlined yet highly competitive format that maximizes exposure while maintaining player safety and development.

Regular Season: 8 highly competitive games

Playoffs: Top 4 teams face off in a two-round playoff series

Championship: Winners of the semifinals compete for the PIFL Championship Trophy

This structure ensures every game matters and every athlete has multiple opportunities to showcase their talent.

League Draft & Combine

To maintain elite-level talent and structure, the PIFL hosts two major annual events:

PIFL Combine – January
Athletes from across the country participate in professional testing, position drills, and evaluations conducted by league coaches and scouts.

PIFL Draft – February
Draft-eligible athletes are selected to join PIFL rosters based on combine results, past performance, and team needs.

These events set the stage for a highly competitive season and give players a true professional experience.

Competitive Balance & Crossover Games

The PIFL is committed to ensuring that our athletes compete against top-tier talent. To achieve this, the league will participate in crossover games with other professional leagues across the nation. These matchups provide players with additional exposure and help maintain a strong competitive standard that aligns with the talent level of major professional organizations.
